With a heavy heart, I strongly condemn the senseless and brutal ambush of Election Officer Maceda Lidasan Abo and her beloved husband Jojo Abo today, March 26, 2025, in Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte. This act of violence, committed in the sacred month of Ramadhan, is not only a grave injustice but also an insult to the values of peace, mercy, and compassion that this holy month represents.
Mrs. Abo was a dedicated public servant who played a crucial role in ensuring fair and credible elections. To harm those who work for democracy is to strike at the very heart of our society. The perpetrators of this cowardly attack must be held accountable.
To the grieving family of Mrs. Abo, I extend my deepest sympathies. Losing a loved one is never easy, and it is even more painful in this blessed month when we seek peace, forgiveness, and unity. Please know that we stand with you.
As we continue our prayers and fasting, let us also pray for an end to violence in our communities. May Allah (SWT) grant eternal peace to the victims and bestow patience and strength upon their family. Let us work together to uphold justice, peace, and the sanctity of life.
