PARANG, Maguindanao del Norte | July 14, 2026 — The Office of Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito, MPSA, in partnership with the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of Parang and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), conducted a Legislative Forum and Stakeholder Consultation on the proposed Bangsamoro Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities, integrated with a Voters' Education Orientation, on July 13 at the Covered Court of Barangay Sarmiento, Parang Maguindanao del Norte.

The forum gathered persons with disabilities and key stakeholders to discuss the proposed measure, gather policy recommendations, and promote disability-inclusive governance in the Bangsamoro.

During the activity, MP Benito reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. He also highlighted BTA Parliament Bill No. 354, or the Bangsamoro Autism Center Act of 2025, which seeks to establish a center providing healthcare, education, therapy, rehabilitation, and family support services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in BARMM.

COMELEC Election Officer Mary Ann Marombsar led the voters' education session in preparation for the First Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections in 2026, briefing participants on accessible voting procedures and encouraging them to exercise their right to vote.

Meanwhile, PDAO Head Mr. Ramil Mama thanked MP Benito and COMELEC for organizing the activity, while participants expressed their appreciation for the lawmaker's continued support for persons with disabilities and for providing them an opportunity to contribute to the legislative process.

The activity was held in celebration of National Disability Rights Week.
