DAVAO CITY, July 26, 2026 — Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito, through his office, provided cash assistance to families affected by the flash flood that hit Barangay Bangkal, Davao City, following heavy rains that inundated several communities.
Although Davao City is outside the territorial jurisdiction of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), MP Benito said this does not prevent him from extending assistance to Bangsamoro families and other vulnerable communities residing outside the region.
He emphasized that many Bangsamoro communities continue to live beyond the boundaries of BARMM and deserve compassion and support, especially during times of disaster and hardship.
"The Bangsamoro people are not defined solely by territorial boundaries. Wherever our communities are, we have a shared responsibility to stand with them, especially in times of need," MP Benito said.
The cash assistance was intended to help affected families meet their immediate needs as they recover from the devastation caused by the flooding.
Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the timely assistance, saying it would help them purchase essential necessities while rebuilding their homes and livelihoods.
The Office of MP Benito reaffirmed its commitment to continue reaching out to Bangsamoro communities outside the BARMM, ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those in need regardless of their location.
