COTABATO CITY, Philippines — The Office of Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito continued its rice distribution program today, providing aid to poor and marginalized families in the community of Maahad, Barangay Bagua, Cotabato City.

The activity is part of the ongoing efforts of MP Benito’s Office to deliver immediate assistance to families experiencing poverty who struggle to meet their daily needs, particularly food.

For many beneficiaries, a simple bag or sack of rice goes a long way, especially for households that must carefully budget every peso earned. The relief initiative aims to provide a measure of comfort and alleviate the financial burden on these families.

MP Abdulbasit R. Benito emphasized that genuine public service must be rooted in the realities of ordinary citizens, particularly the most vulnerable who often have limited access to opportunities and government aid.

"This ongoing program is our modest way of reaching out and helping our fellow citizens, especially families suffering from poverty. We may not be able to immediately solve all their problems, but we can take concrete steps to at least ease their burdens," MP Benito stated.

Beyond the distribution of rice, the activity also provided an avenue for representatives from MP Benito’s Office to speak directly with residents and listen to their grievances, needs, and other community concerns.

The Office of MP Benito reaffirmed its continuous commitment to delivering aid to communities as part of a broader vision for responsive, humane, and citizen-centric public service.

For the families who received assistance in Maahad, Barangay Bagua, today was about more than just a sack of rice. It served as a reminder that their well-being matters, their needs are heard, and there are public servants continuously striving to serve them.

“Compassionate service, for every Bangsamoro family.”
