COTABATO CITY, July 15, 2025 — Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito took part in the Committee on Ways and Means meeting held today at the PMB Conference Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center Compound in Cotabato City.
The session, presided over by Committee Chairman Atty. José I. Lorena, gathered members of the committee to discuss crucial fiscal matters aimed at enhancing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region’s revenue generation, tax policies, and financial administration.
MP Benito expressed his commitment to ensuring that the region's economic strategies are aligned with the principles of transparency, accountability, and equitable development. During the meeting, he provided insights on strengthening local revenue code implementation and optimizing the fiscal autonomy of BARMM.
"The economic foundation of the Bangsamoro must be solid and inclusive. Through this committee, we are working to build policies that can uplift communities and ensure long-term sustainability," MP Benito said.
The Committee on Ways and Means plays a key role in reviewing and recommending financial legislation and fiscal measures for the Bangsamoro Transition Authority. Today's session is part of its ongoing efforts to prepare for the upcoming parliamentary budget sessions and to lay the groundwork for future economic legislation.
The meeting concluded with several actionable points, which will be further refined and presented in the succeeding committee deliberations.
