COTABATO CITY — May 1, 2025 — In a warm and sincere tribute on Labor Day, Member of the Bangsamoro Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito paid homage to the tireless efforts of workers across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), calling them the "true engines of peace and progress."
In his statement, MP Benito expressed deep gratitude to the labor force, acknowledging their silent but powerful role in shaping the Bangsamoro society. “Every family fed, every road built, every child educated—there’s a worker behind it. Today, we pause to recognize their sacrifices and their unyielding spirit,” he said.
He highlighted the unique struggles of workers in the Bangsamoro region, many of whom continue to strive for a better life amid the challenges of post-conflict recovery and economic development. MP Benito emphasized the Parliament’s responsibility to pass laws that uphold labor rights, ensure decent wages, and create more dignified employment opportunities.
"Our workers carry not only the weight of their daily jobs, but also the hopes of their communities. They deserve more than just applause—they deserve action, protection, and a future they can look forward to,” he added.
MP Benito concluded his message with a call for unity and shared responsibility in creating a more just and inclusive society for all. "Let this day remind us: no matter our differences, we are all builders of this region. Together, we honor work, and we honor each other."
As Labor Day is celebrated across the country, his heartfelt words resonate deeply with many in the region who continue to face economic and social challenges, while hoping for a brighter, more secure tomorrow.
