MP Abdulbasit Benito Joins Public Consultations to Support Reapportionment Bill Ahead of First Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections

Cotabato City, June 20 – In response to the directive of Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua to fast-track the passage of a key legislative measure, Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito has been actively participating in a series of public consultations across the region. The bill aims to reapportion the 73 districts from Sulu in preparation for the historic 1st Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections, scheduled for October 13, 2025.
MP Benito, known for his strong advocacy for inclusive and participatory governance, has joined communities on the ground to listen to concerns, gather insights, and ensure that the proposed reapportionment reflects the true voice of the people.
“These consultations are vital. We’re not just passing a bill—we’re shaping the future of representation in the Bangsamoro,” MP Benito said during one of the sessions.
The consultations are being spearheaded by the Committee on Amendments, Revision, and Codification of Laws in collaboration with the Committee on Local Government, signaling a unified legislative effort to ensure that the proposed changes are timely, well-informed, and responsive to the region’s evolving needs.
As the countdown to the October elections begins, MP Benito’s engagement highlights the Parliament’s commitment to a democratic and transparent process in building a stronger, more representative Bangsamoro government.
