Cotabato City, May 30, 2026 – Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito has expressed his full support for the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament’s Adopted Resolution No. 717, which conveys the Parliament’s collective backing for Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr., Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity. The resolution, principally authored by MP Abdulkarim T. Misuari, was formally adopted during the May 29 plenary session and was approved without objection by the members of Parliament.
In his statement of support, MP Benito highlighted Secretary Galvez’s pivotal role in advancing peace and reconciliation efforts in the Bangsamoro region, describing him as a dedicated public servant whose deep understanding of the peace process has helped bridge divides and foster unity across various communities.
“Secretary Galvez has been instrumental in sustaining the peace we now enjoy,” MP Benito said. “His leadership, sincerity, and tireless efforts have brought meaningful progress in the peace process. I fully support this resolution urging his continued appointment to ensure that these efforts remain uninterrupted.”
The adopted resolution reflects the unified voice of the BTA Parliament in recognizing the importance of continuity in leadership within the national peace framework. It respectfully urges President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to consider reappointing Secretary Galvez to ensure the momentum of peace and reconciliation in the Bangsamoro region continues.
For MP Benito, this is more than a political statement — it is a firm commitment to the preservation of peace, and a reminder that collaborative efforts between the national and regional governments must be strengthened, especially at a time when the gains of the peace process are being felt on the ground.
“Peace is not a finished task, but an ongoing mission,” MP Benito added. “And with leaders like Secretary Galvez at the helm, we are confident that the vision for a peaceful, united, and prosperous Bangsamoro remains within reach.”
