Cotabato City – May 29, 2025
Member of the Bangsamoro Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito expressed his full and unwavering support for Proposed Resolution No. 718, a measure authored by MP Abdulkarim T. Misuari and fellow legislators, earnestly urging President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to reappoint Secretary Antonio Ernesto “Anton” Lagdameo Jr. as Special Assistant to the President (SAP).
For MP Benito, Secretary Lagdameo has become more than just a senior official in the Palace — he has served as a reliable bridge between Malacañang and the Filipino people, particularly in the Bangsamoro region. In his statement, Benito commended Lagdameo’s steadfast dedication, professionalism, and integrity, noting the SAP’s deep responsiveness to the concerns of the Bangsamoro people and his strong commitment to efficient and people-centered governance.
“Secretary Lagdameo’s continued presence in the Cabinet,” Benito said, “will be instrumental in advancing the President’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas—a nation that is inclusive, stable, and leaves no one behind.”
The resolution comes at a time when public trust and consistent leadership are vital to national progress. For Benito, reappointing Secretary Lagdameo is a move towards continuity and stability, especially in reinforcing the collaborative ties between the national government and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In closing, MP Benito respectfully appealed to President Marcos Jr., trusting in his wisdom to reappoint a public servant whose performance and sincerity continue to earn the respect and support of many, including leaders from the south.
“This reappointment,” Benito emphasized, “will serve the best interests of the entire Filipino nation.”
