In a spirit of partnership and mutual concern for the welfare of overseas workers, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region 12, led by its Regional Director Mr. Samsudin Lintongan, paid a courtesy visit today to the Office of Member of Parliament Abdulbasit R. Benito in Cotabato City.

The visit served as an avenue to foster stronger coordination between the regional DMW office and MP Benito’s legislative office, particularly in advancing the protection and support for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the Bangsamoro region and Region 12.

During the meeting, OIC Director Lintongan and his team shared ongoing programs of the DMW, while also listening to key concerns from the ground—especially issues faced by Bangsamoro OFWs and their families. In response, MP Benito expressed appreciation for the department’s continued commitment to the Bangsamoro diaspora and emphasized the need for proactive and compassionate governance.

“Our OFWs have made countless sacrifices for their families and for the nation. As public servants, we are called to ensure that their labor abroad is matched by support and protection at home,” MP Benito said.

He also underscored the importance of local-national collaboration in crafting responsive policies and programs that reflect the unique context of the Bangsamoro people.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to work hand-in-hand in addressing the challenges faced by migrant workers, exploring future partnerships, and ensuring that no Bangsamoro OFW is left behind.
