In a momentous event for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), newly appointed Members of Parliament, including Abdulbasit R. Benito, took their oath of office at Malacañan Palace yesterday. The ceremony was made even more significant as President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. himself administered the oath, reaffirming the national government’s commitment to the Bangsamoro peace process and self-governance.
Dressed in formal and traditional attire, the new members stood proudly as they pledged to uphold their duties and responsibilities with integrity. Among them was Abdulbasit Benito, who expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve. “This is not just a personal milestone but a call to serve the Bangsamoro people with sincerity and dedication,” Benito said.
President Marcos Jr., in his remarks, emphasized the importance of unity and inclusive governance in ensuring lasting peace and development in the region. “The Bangsamoro people deserve strong, capable leaders who will champion their rights and aspirations. Your role in the Parliament is vital in shaping a future of stability and progress,” he said.
The appointment of new members is seen as a step toward strengthening the Bangsamoro government, ensuring that diverse voices continue to be represented in policymaking. With BARMM’s ongoing transition, the newly sworn-in officials are expected to play key roles in crafting policies that promote economic growth, social development, and lasting peace in the region.
As the newly appointed leaders assume their posts, the people of Bangsamoro look forward to a future where governance remains anchored on the principles of justice, inclusivity, and self-determination.
